Why I Think KaDee Strickland is an Admirable Person
I can’t think of a good enough intro to start this out and then somehow transition into why I think KaDee Strickland is a woman of strength and inspiration. So, without further adieu-
KaDee Strickland is best know for her role as Charlotte King on the ABC show Private Practice. Her character is strong, funny, southern, and sassy! In early seasons, Charlotte was shown to be a distant sort of no-nonsense type who ruled the hospital as Chief of Staff and didn’t click well with the people working at the private practice. However, throughout the seasons she transformed into a kinder, more likeable, still strong and sassy, character, engaged to one of the doctors from the practice and making friends with the other ones. And then in season 4 there are a series of episodes that deal with her being violently attacked and raped, and how it affects her and the other characters.
Okay, stop. Now let’s turn to real life- to KaDee Strickland. The episodes she had to act out raised awareness of sexual violence and she became involved in the RAINN organization. I don’t really know what she has done with them exactly, but I have seen numerous youtube videos, tweets, and articles where she is talking about her experience in acting out this storyline and then she mentions and raises awareness of the RAINN organization.
From what I know about this organization, it has helped so many people who have been the recipient of sexual violence. They provide support through the National Sexual Assault Hotline*, counseling for victims and family members, raising awareness through events on college campuses and other venues, and so many other ways. This organization is needed. The number of how many people have been affected by sexual violence is way more than is acceptable (and the acceptable number is 0, by the way.) This organization provides what so many people don’t have after this type of trauma- a support system. No one deserves that pain, and no one deserves to let it eat away at them. No one deserves to feel alone and without a support system.
So, back to KaDee Strickland- the fact that this beautiful woman had the bravery to act out such a deep, and tough emotional trauma, and in turn raise awareness and support for those who have really been affected by it, is inspiring to me. The fact that she had to humble herself into that sort of acting role is totally amazing to me. I can’t even frown in front of people because I’m too afraid to be that vulnerable, but to act this sort of dark experience out on TV, for the entire world to see, really shows some strength of person and acting ability too.
Why do I admire KaDee Strickland? Because she has a heart. She is a woman who sees that there are people who need love and support and she is supporting them. Whether it be through an organization like RAINN or whatever else, I really think that this woman is admirable!
This isn’t the best blog I’ve written, in word organization and choice, I mean, but I hope I got my point across. I want to meet KaDee Strickland because she is admirable for being a caring person!
*Just throwing it out there, the number for the National Sexual Assault Hotline is 1.800.656.HOPE. Call it if you think you need to.
